Southern Belle

Southern BelleTake a cup of The Cure, two pounds of Grandaddy, a pint of the Pixies, three teaspoons of Modest Mouse, a dash of Mercury Rev, a bag of insane puppet circus music, toss in the genius of Ross McLeron, Austin Saylor Jackson, and Nicole Perry and simmer, and what do you get? Southern Belle. And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Max Lilien just joined on drums.

Shay Scott

steinwayHere are some pop tunes, one completely crazy, and a Beethoven sonata. I live here. I record artists and bands all the time. If you're not recording here, you're paying 2-3 times too much and don't know what you're missing! Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.

El Con

steinwayEl Con writes gorgeous desert rock and reminds me of the sweet smell of Arizona after a rain storm at dusk. Their singer, Doug Smith, pretty much blew me away with his voice and lyrics, singing the songs straight through in one take. The band includes Chris and Liza Byrne, Adam King, and John Alexander, all multi-instrumentalists. Here are some unfinished mixes:

Their Heels Have Eyes [mp3]
Chance Addict [mp3]

The Hugs

The HugsThe Hugs are exploding with their unique brand of indie power anthem pop. They've signed with manager and famous UK rock photographer Roger Sargent, and inked a deal with 1965 Records and A&R rep James Endeacott in London who signed The Strokes and The Libertines. Rumor has it that The Pixies producer will bust out their 1st major label record release for 1965 Records/Sony! Go Hugs!!

Debra Luck

Debra Luck Debra Luck is an amazing vocalist and one of the neatest people I've ever worked with. She won the 2004 Portland Idol contest at the Rose Garden, and we're working on a series of songs to help her go somewhere! Sounds like she's already there to me, though! I envy the band or agent that finds her first.

Michael Taylor

Michael Taylor Michael Taylor lives in Marin county north of San Francisco, where he writes his own stamp of original pop music. He plays just about every instrument with ease, has a retro-'70s flare, and a sentiment for the magic of Burt Bacharach. He is totally inspiring to work with and brimming with melody.

Tim Roth

Tim RothTim Roth is a Portland guitar teacher and master of multiple genres. Here are some solo jazz pieces, including a rendition of Neal Hefti's Lil Darlin', which is a transcription of a 1975 recording by Joe Pass at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Bron-Yr-Aur is from the same year but off of Led Zeppelin's release, Physical Graffiti.

Nick Caceres

Nick CaceresNick Caceres just finished his first year at the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. He is, quite simply, perfect in every way. He'll be back with new songs soon. I can't wait!

Brad Brooks

Brad BrooksAn amazing singer/songwriter from San Francisco just released his second solo album, called Spill Collateral Love. It was recorded at KBC Records, and at Tiny Telephone and the Groove Room in the Bay area. Brad's songs are world class, and so is he. Here are two songs Paul Hoaglin and I co-wrote with him:
