ADT

Last week Paul Hoaglin wired up the second Otari 2-inch tape deck and gave a seminar on the correct use and permutations of Automatic Double Tracking as made famous at Abbey Road. He even gave us an hour of examples ranging from early "flanging," as ADT is referred to by John Lennon, to the famous "Revolver" effect. I never knew ADT was such a dynamic process, dialing up and down the varispeed of deck 2 in real time to create an effect you can never duplicate. Each pass is always different. Paper Brain loved it. And here we are, all set up for ADT thanks to Mr. Hoaglin. I caught two sets of The Mother Hips, at the Doug Fir and then up at Hood River. I love that band. We're now in the throws of mixing Paper Brain. Tibetan Beef Garden punked out the place with an 8 song EP. The vintage Neve 2264 limiters arrived and are lovely sitting in the 80 series slots. This week we have Debra Luck, Steve Rodin, Foreign Orange, Sukha Mantra, and then Michael Taylor is flying up for five days from San Francisco. I am hopelessly addicted to the Bill Putnam echo chambers in the Altiverb TDM plug in.
