Mighty Unicorn
The leaves are finally turning, the sweet autumnal smell of fall is in the air, and new bands are set to begin recording. This past month brought a potpourri of artists, including Elbo Finn, Michael Taylor, Ross McLeron and new material by Southern Belle, Lex Browning tracking basics with Gregg Williams and Jim Brunberg, and songs for a new independent film in production. This week we'll be recording drums for Mighty Unicorn with none other than Hans Wagner on the skins. I can't wait for that. The "mixes" link has now been revamped to feature engineer reels for our house engineers. Take a listen to The Richmond Sluts and Aaron Prellwitz's mix of Sweet Something [mp3], and The Dandy Warhols' Dub in the Lotus [mp3], which is a remix by Jeremy Sherrer and Zia McCabe. New gear includes two Beyerdynamic M160 ribbon mics, a second Shure sm81 condensor, a Fuzz Face Jimi Hendrix edition stomp box, and a 15-watt Ampeg Jet J-12T guitar amp that just screams like it wants to be scolded.
